Mission Accomplished 5 Years Later ';Major combat operations in Iraq have ended'; What does

WASHINGTON 鈥?The White House said Wednesday that President Bush has paid a price for the ''Mission Accomplished'' banner that was flown in triumph five years ago but later became a symbol of U.S. misjudgments and mistakes in the long and costly war in Iraq.

It meant that the Iraqi military under Saddam's government had been mostly defeated, to the point that there would not be any large battles between the U.S. and Iraqi armies.

As for the banner, it meant that the aircraft carrier had successfully completed its mission in support of defeating the Iraqi military.

As you note, it's 5 years later... how is it that people STILL don't understand this?
It means we are on our way to accomplish the mission.
It means they cant be trusted.
Has it really been 5 years already?

Time sure flies when you're having fun!
