This years theme is Triumph and Tragedy. I have an idea but i'm not sure if it will totally work. I was thinking about doing the Battle of Gettysburg. If you don't think this could work could you please help me with some other ideas. Thanks.

Gettysburg can work just fine. The tragedy is found in the appalling loss of life (over twenty thousand lost in Pickett's Charge alone, compare that to 3,000 in five years in Iraq). All you have to do to show the tragedy is cite the numbers. The triumph can be found embodied in Lincolns Gettysburg Address, all you have to do is quote it.

YES YES YES!!!! The Battle of Gettysburg is certainly what you need to do! There was much triumph and much tradgedy in the battle!
Heck, I'd even let you do something about my ancestor, Lt. Col. George Fisher McFarland! He would be great for the tradgedy part. For info on good old McFarland, go to www.findagrave.com and go into non-famous grave search and type in George F. McFarland and there is a drop down list of states. Make sure you put down Pennsylvania, since his grave is in that state. You'll find him. He's the man in my Yahoo!Answers picture thingy. Ok, for the triumph part, write about Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain of the 20th Maine Infantry. He valiently led a great charge down the side of Little Round Top (the extreme left of the Union lines) without ammo, pushed back Colonel William Oates's 15th Alabama Infantry and saved not only the Battle of Gettysburg, but also the war. So there you have it. Lt. Col. George F. McFarland (my ancestor) for the tragedy and Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain for the triumph. Good luck.
